April 25th 2025 progress report
There isn't much to share this month. I've been working on the second half of Act 2. I've been moving ahead of schedule in spite of having a slow start of the month. The original plan for Act 2 was to have enemies affect the enviroment in some degree, but this plan is de-facto discarded. Project manageability has been an increasing concern in the last couple of days, and while the first half of the act is somewhat linear, it does branch after the half point under conditions - you'll have to know which of these conditions are.
Another difference is that I'm only working on minimally viable layouts for now; I plan to polish and iron out some of the puzzles and routes better after I've finally stablished. I'm at times lamenting going for a simpler platformer as opposed to a metroidvania because I can't really be complicating the layouts for the pupose of revisiting like if it was.

The reason I don't want to overcomplicate the layouts is that the game is meant to be beatable within 1 hour. Not within 1 hour for the first time, but 1 hour within a second playthrough. The plans I have in palce for Act 3 are actually core to achieving this, and it should appeal to both, players that want to take it a little slower, and players that just want to rush through. it also means that monthly progress updates will be becoming just updates.
