Week 11

Created a Spike Goblin. Behaves like your traditional spikes in a platformer.

Spike Goblin has a chance to play a special animation.
New platform that reacts to wind state. Only spawns while under wind state.
[Bug] Master Volume zipper not lowering or raising the volume.

There's a few things I've been thinking about. In order to make the stages the way I want them to come out. I want to target a demo release of Act 1 for Sage 2024, but right now I'm not even half way done. So I've been thinking about releasing a half demo for Act 1 in the meantime whenever I'm done with the current half of Act 1.

Dream Enkoure is meant to have stages  (Acts) with lineal progression (going from left to right!), but with spliting routes with meaning beyond padding. As it stands right now, the first section of Act 1 has four different exits; the first two exits have been grouped into route A, which is the route I'm working right now, and the other two are to conjoin in route B. Act 0 (tutorial) focuses on mechanical tutorialization, so the desing goal for Act 1 is to show elemental interaction. This is why the first section has everything (some water, some wind, some lava). As a dev, there's a lot of freedom in design to be explored with the elemental system I put in place, but I'm also trying to keep myself from going too crazy but crazy at the same time, as I want to keep some types of interactions for later acts.

Another thing I've been against has been spikes. Your old, classic, ye olde golden spike traps of insta death or very much damage ouchie yes. I've been feeling the idea was too traditionalist for my personal goals on this project. However, in the last few weeks I've come to appreciate the utility of design of hazards as a way to control the flow of the stage (I need more toys to fill stages with), but still felt static spikes were too traditionalist, so I ended up pivoting to, instead, have goblins hold spikes. Those are the goblins you see on the clip above - I even gave them a small chance to... put their own spin on things. Yes. Totally not gross.
