Week 20 - The road to Sage '24
This week is focused on level polishing.
Start of Act 1 has been touched on to be slightly less boring.
Degrassified the lava of Route A. Some underground/cavern gass has been left for visual variety purposes.
Freezables updated to not freeze upon player contact.
*Originally Freezables were meant to melt when in contact with fire, and freeze when in contact with Water element. This is now being changed to not freeze when colliding with any player element.
*Which is to say I'm making Ice as an enemy attribute in the future.
Degrassified Act 1
Silly button has been given the ability to reset. Opt-in.
Fixed a logic mistake that allowed freezables to still freeze to water element player.
Act_1_002b added some extra leeway on water shortcut to not punish the player for slidejumping for fun.
Updated lava gimmick of Act 1 Boss to properly fill its intended area.
Added a button to the demo end screen that changes the active parallax background. For funsies.
Updated rogue_function to allow to set variables on the fly. It's completely agnostic!
End screen upon reaching Act 1 Interlude now includes the route taken.
CameraGate: The default size of camera middleman has been changed and all default instances of camera middleman now have wrong boxes. Most notably in the tutorial act. An attempt to fix these collisions has been made.
[Bugfix]Caught an invisible rebounder (reason: z_index). It is now properly visible.
[Bug]An uknown issue causes a crash on level transition.
Act_1_000_02b: A softlock situation where a player with water element could not recover from falling into the final pool of water on the moving logs section.
An additional softlock in the same place caused by ramming the player into the wall has been prevented by removing the goblin ship. Requires proper consideration.
Act_1_000_01: A softlock related to respawning without abilities has been prevented.
it's such a massive changelog this week. With this, the work for Act 1 is over, and I am currently focusing on preparing everything for the submission to Sage 2024. I'm even managing to find new bugs. Yay (* ^-^)... [ ' - ']#
As I'll be focusing for a while in preparing the Sage 2024 booth, and with august rearing its head, I'll be taking this chance to catch a break, so there wont be updates for a short while. As for a new demo, I'll be uploading the demo I'm preparing for sage with any necessary fixes here on itch io after the showcase is over... or started. It's my first time doing one of these things and I'm kind of nervous.
